Instructional Methods
CEMP102 immerses participants in the learning process with a discussion-based curriculum that includes group involvement and asynchronous learning with limited lectures. This course offers appraisal review methodology and standard of care practices by utilizing redacted machinery and equipment appraisal reports.

Required Reading
ASA’s Valuing Machinery and Equipment: The Fundamentals of Appraising Machinery and Technical Assets 4th Ed is the authoritative textbook on the theory and methodology of appraising machinery, equipment, and technical assets. The 2020 edition includes revised and updated chapters on topics like the sales comparison approach, appraisal report writing, and valuations for financial reporting, completely rewritten chapters on topics like aircraft appraisals, and a new chapter on ad valorem tax appraisals. It also includes updated appendices with appraisal research sources, an enhanced index, and a wholly rewritten and improved glossary.

Attendance
This is a highly interactive class. Registrants must participate in the entire class (all class sessions) with cameras turned on in order to sit for the exam and receive a certificate following successful completion of the exam. The class will not be recorded or provided as an archive per accrediting body guidelines.
Final Exam
All exams will be conducted through ASA’s online exam platform on XXX. Successful completion of the exam is required in order to pass the class. Students must complete the online exam within 21 days after the class concludes. Further exam instructions and guidance will be provided within the eMaterials once available.
Certificate of Completion
Please allow 10-15 business days following successful completion of the exam in order to receive a certificate of completion via email notification. The certificate will be available for download under “My ASA Courses” on the ASA website (login required).

Attendees should bring to class either an electronic copy (loaded on a laptop or mobile device) or a print copy of all course handouts to use as a reference. All course eMaterials are in an Adobe PDF format which can be viewed using the free Adobe Reader application. eMaterials are presented in color and are bookmarked and comment/typewriter enabled. When opting to print eMaterials, it is recommended that you adjust the print settings to print in black and white (or grayscale) and consider printing double-sided on recycled paper.

Since 1994, Charlie Dixon has been president and owner of CD Valuations Services, Inc., located in Ardmore, PA. Specializing in machinery and equipment valuation and consultation, he has provided appraisal and consultation services to many commercial and private clients, in areas including Commercial Lending/Finance, Asset Based Lending, Mergers & Acquisitions, Eminent Domain, Bankruptcy, Property Insurance and Estate/Family Law. Charlie has provided valuation services for government agencies at all levels and has appeared as an expert witness in several Courts and Boards of View.
Charlie received his initial professional credentials from the American Society of Appraisers as an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) within the discipline of Machinery & Technical Specialties. He also holds a Certified Senior Appraiser (CSA) designation from the Equipment Appraisers of North America (EANA). Charlie remains in compliance with the ASA and EANA appraiser reaccreditation programs, which involve continuing education related to USPAP and the appraisal industry. Charlie is a USPAP Certified Instructor in Personal Property (machinery & equipment) through the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) of the Appraisal Foundation. He has also gained the Appraisal Review and Management (ARM-MTS) designation and is active in that capacity.
Charlie's focus now is on teaching and education, appraisal review, litigation support and related activities in USPAP, appraisal report writing, and appraiser education.
