The International Valuation Standards Council has approved a revision to their Standards effective January 2025. One new element to the IVSC Standards is IVS 500-Financial Instruments. This webinar will introduce IVS 500. The goal of IVS 500 is to provide a global set of valuation standards for level 1, 2 and 3 securities. It comprehensively address governance, data and inputs, methods and models and quality control. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon webinar completion, the participant will be able to:

  • Summarize the objectives of IVS 500; 
  • Explain the valuation concepts and principles underlying IVS 500;  
  • Explain why IVS 500 is important and fills a void in the valuation profession; and 
  • Defines a global set of valuation standards for financial instruments.

Course Audience

Best suited for individuals that provide valuation services for financial instruments. The standard is relevant to liquid and illiquid debt, equity and derivatives. It is also relevant to large and small firms (any type of entity that owns financial instruments), and it is a global standard.

Instructor Information

Lawrence Levine | Lincoln International LLC

Lawrence Levine is a Managing Director in Lincoln International's Valuations & Opinions Group. He provides valuation opinion and advisory services to companies and investment advisors. He advises a wide array of organizations regarding the valuation of financial instruments. He has been published in numerous top-tier and peer-reviewed publications. In addition, he serves as a member of several valuation professional organizations including: International Valuation Standards Council – Financial Instruments Board; and, Business Valuation Resource Panel of The Appraisal Foundation. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in business valuation from the American Society of Appraisers, a Certified Public Accountant and accredited in business valuation as well as certified in the valuation of financial instruments from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Lucas Weiss | Lincoln International LLC

Lucas Weiss joined Lincoln International in 2014 and is a Director in Lincoln’s Valuations & Opinions Group where he provides valuations of private equity and private credit investments, with a focus on venture and growth stage businesses. Prior to joining Lincoln, Lucas was a Senior Associate at PwC in the Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Group, providing advisory services on IPOs, divestitures, and other transactions. Lucas earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lucas is a licensed certified public accountant.

Douglas Summa | IVSC Financial Instruments Board

Douglas Summa is a retired Partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers' Financial Services Practice in New York. Throughout his 35+ year tenure with PwC, he worked in the international capital markets areas across cash and derivative products, including fixed income, foreign exchange, equity, credit, and commodities. Currently, Mr. Summa is on the Board of the International Association of Quantitative Finance and is the Vice Chairman of the Financial Instruments Board of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC). He also in a P.R.I.M.E. Finance market expert.
