2025 IAC GJ- Looking for a Date: Determining the Age of Jewels

Session Description

Appraisers are seen as experts in many things. We examine jewels very closely and identify the component parts. Clients are pleased to hear that their appraiser is able to discover some stories about their jewel. In this presentation, we will examine features of construction methods, gem cut styles, fittings and structure that can assist the appraiser in determining the historic age and origins of a jewel. We will also discuss the distinction between original and reproduction jewels.
